Global methamphetamine seizures reached another record high in 2024, with the highest growth rates reported by so-called emerging markets.
East and South-East Asia and North America continue to account for the largest methamphetamine seizures globally, although seizures declined in North America while continuing to rise in East and South-East Asia.
The smoothed long-term trend in global methamphetamine seizures suggests an approximate annual growth rate of 13 per cent (modelled to mitigate the impact of year-on-year fluctuations) as of 2024.
The highest growth rates in 2024, however, were reported by non-traditional markets in Europe (notably Eastern Europe and Western and Central Europe), followed by North Africa, South America, South Asia and the Near and Middle East/South-West Asia.
Thailand again reported the largest methamphetamine seizures in 2024, followed by the United States, Myanmar, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Türkiye and Mexico.
