Cocaine seizures continue to rise and remain concentrated in the Americas and Western and Central Europe.
In Europe, Spain reported the largest quantities seized in 2024, followed by France, Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, marking a change from previous years when Belgium reported the largest quantities. Seizures declined in Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while increasing in – inter alia – France, Spain and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
- Global seizures continue to be concentrated in the Americas (83 per cent of the total quantity seized) and Western and Central Europe (15 per cent), despite a spread of cocaine trafficking to various subregions in recent years. Quantities of cocaine seized in Western and Central Europe surpassed those in North America for the sixth consecutive year in 2024, marking a shift in interception patterns.
- Seizures in Europe remain concentrated in seaports but are becoming more dispersed: while major hubs such as Antwerp and Rotterdam saw strong declines in 2024, increases were recorded across many smaller ports. At the same time, seizures of container-based based shipments in South America intended for major European destinations increased.
