Cocaine purities

  • Cocaine purities have increased over time, especially at the retail level.
  • In most countries, purities at the wholesale level are higher than at the retail level where cocaine is frequently cut.
  • Cocaine purities at the wholesale level are higher in or near countries of production (76 per cent in “other Americas” in 2024) than in main consumer markets (72 per cent in North America and 67 per cent in Europe in 2024).
  • Rising levels of cocaine production appear to have had an impact on cocaine purities, notably at the retail level:
    • Unweighted typical purities reported by Member States at the wholesale level rose from, on average, 61.7 per cent in 2010 to 68.9 per cent in 2024.
    • The increase has been more pronounced for retail purities, rising from 43.5 per cent in 2010 to, on average, 59.4 per cent by 2024.
